My Love For Bollywood Films

 Most people would probably spend their off day from work and school  doing something more productive like maybe  going out with friends,sleeping in and etc, I usually spend my days watching Bollywood movies.

I know what you're thinking, that's weird huh?But hey, I wouldn't be a good blogger if I didn't tell you all about my secret obsession.

Well it's not exactly a secret or something new , especially amongst my family and close friends, how much I adore Bollywood movies.But I guess it would be news to you if you probably just met me or is just finding out about me through this blog, if so then surprise, yes I Vickey, love Bollywood films.

In fact I think my love for Bollywood films probably started when I was really young,back in Ghana, when my family would watch old reruns of Indian soap operas and classic films. Back then I was too young to understand, and didn't really pay much attention to it , but I think it started developing more when around 2006,here in America, my Dad bought me and my sisters a couple of DVDs for us to watch and entertain ourselves when we are at home bored.

*Especially since there is 6 of us, Lord knows that watching movies were definitely  a must for us, it became a semi family tradition, just gathering around and watching movies together.

So anyways among those DVDs was a movie called Bride and Prejudice.

I was about 10-11 years old at that time, but I fell in love with this movie and the whole Bollywood culture.Similar to the famous movie and book Pride and Prejudice, the classic tale by Jane Austen, this movie was the Bollywood updated  version of it, with  different twists and concepts to it that just made it absolutely perfect.

Starring Aishwarya Rai Bachan,one of Indians Beautiful leading actress and American actor Matt Henderson. This story, just like the original story in Pride and Prejudice, tells the tale of an Indian mother, Ms. Bakshi, who is eager to find suitable husbands for her four unmarried daughters. And when two rich and single gentlemen Balraj and Darcy come to visit India from the UK, Mrs. Bakshi have full hope and story begins.


As you can tell from the two people in the picture above, they will obviously meet,two cultures colliding and fall in love and so on.

This movie opened my eyes to the Bollywood culture and their film styles, with their music, outfits, innocence of falling in love, simplicity and colorfulness, I too was in love with this romantic movie.

In fact I can't tell you how many times I've watched this movie alone for the past years (more than 20 times). And each time I fall in love with it even more, knowing almost all the lyric to some of the hindi songs.

As if this movie wasn't enough to quench my desire for Indian Movies, my best friend of more than 8 years, contributed this love of mine, when she lent me a couple of her aunt's Indian movies dvds to watch.

There was no turning back ever since, and I was in eight grade at this time. So it's been a while.

Amongst the DVD's were one of Indian Hit movies and now a classic, Kaho Na Pyaar Hai, this movie remains to be one of my all time favorite movies. Even my family enjoyed this movie, after watching it countless times.

Starring one of my favorite Bollywood actors, Hrithik Roshan and Ameesha Patel, this movie is probably one of the reasons why I am such a hopeless romantic.

I won't say too much about this film, but I would recommend this movie to anybody who is a fan of some good romance tale, told in such a beautiful way.

The truth is I love Bollywood movies for a lot of reasons. 

1. Their Movies are really romantic.

With it being The Biggest Film industry ever, Hollywood being second, Bollywood movies also tell the story of a Hero and Heroine in the most romantic ways as possible. 

While sometimes, it may seem cheesy and overall unrealistic, it showcases love in a way ,where the impossible is  possible.And they are able to do this without all the excessive sex, lust, and kissing, that Hollywood and other movies might provide.

Bollywood movies show love in such a beautiful and innocent way, using music that shows the emotions and the feelings of just how the character is feeling and takes us through their minds and adventures of how and when they fell in love.

It is just so beautiful and always leaves me cheesing so hard *In fact I am right now just thinking about it*

2. Handsome Actors*Heart eyes Emoji*

Favorite movies by him are "Student of the Year" and "Ek Villian"

These Pictures basically speak for themselves as one of the many reasons why I love Bollywood movies. 

3. Beautiful Actresses

Alia Bhatt, Favorite movie of hers "Student of the Year" and " Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania"

Parineeti Chopra , Favorite movie , "Shruh Desi Romance"

Amy Jackson, Favorite movie of hers is "Ek Deewana Tha"

4.Art/Music/ Dance/Culture

I just love the culture and the dance in Bollywood movies, it's just so beautiful and artistic and I love the colorfulness and the youthfulness of everything that it brings, through their music and dance. I also very much adore their  outfits, their Saris and the guys with their outfits reminds me so much of African clothing and the culture of it all. Also Bollywood music is so good Oh my gosh, I have a few songs downloaded on my ipod and totally on repeat on my phone.

5. Happy Endings/ Joy

AWWWW .....two people in love is just so romantic

Once again I mention the love and romance in Bollywood as another reason why I love the movies because it's very true. Bollywood movies are full of  lot of happy endings and I love it, because it's not something you see in real life often. Life is a mess and love can be a painful thing, but a beautiful thing, and sometimes it's the reason why someone is alive and I see that through Bollywood movies. Maybe I'm just a sentimental person who just love, love, but with Valentine season  coming around,Love is necessary.Not just through movies , but through life and others around you.

I wanted to share this post, as a glance into my world and something that makes me happy every now and then.When I'm having a bad day, I usually just find a good movie to watch(Bollywood) and then I mostly pray to God because that's also very necessary but we will save that for later.


Okay guys,  that's it for today, I guess you learned one more thing about me today, is that I love Bollywood movies very much and there are many reasons why I love Bollywood movies, I just can't name all of them right now, so I'll just leave y'all with this. I am very familiar with the actors and their music and even some of the language. :)
